Description

Replacing an aging furnace and central AC doesn't have to mean redesigning your ductwork. The MRCOOL Hyper Heat central ducted split system connects to new or existing ducts and pairs a multi-position air handler with an inverter-driven outdoor condenser, so you get mini-split efficiency with whole-home reach. You can order it with or without auxiliary electric heat, and with or without a quick-connect line set.

 

The heat pump keeps heating when outdoor temperatures drop as low as -22 degrees Fahrenheit, which means you can rely on it through hard winters instead of falling back on a fossil-fuel furnace. Heating mode runs up to 75 degrees Fahrenheit outdoors. Cooling holds from -22 degrees Fahrenheit up to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, so the full 2.5 tons of capacity keeps working on the hottest afternoons.

Choose Your Auxiliary Heat and Line Set

You can configure this heat pump system on 2 axes: auxiliary heat (None, 5 kW, 8 kW, 10 kW, or 15 kW) and line set length (No Line Set, 15 feet, 25 feet, 35 feet, or 50 feet).

If you choose None for auxiliary heat, you rely on the heat pump's 34,000 BTU output alone, which suits homes where winters rarely test the -22 degrees Fahrenheit heating limit. The 5 kW and 8 kW heat kits add electric resistance coils inside the air handler for backup on the coldest nights. Step up to the 10 kW or 15 kW kit when a larger or draftier home needs more reserve, since the supplemental coils supply up to 24,000 BTU of heat per hour.

With No Line Set, your installer provides the refrigerant piping and cuts it to the exact run. The 15-foot, 25-foot, 35-foot, and 50-foot configurations include the MRCOOL No-Vac Quick Connect Line Set along with the installation kit, so measure the distance between the air handler and condenser and pick the shortest length that covers it.

It works best in homes up to 1,500 square feet that are replacing a furnace and central AC together. A licensed HVAC professional must install it, so get a contractor lined up early.

The inverter compressor and the -22 degrees Fahrenheit heating rating matter most. Add a heat kit only if your area often hits that limit. For a cold-climate home with ducts, this heat pump will carry you through winter.
